bits&bytes
We are a two-person web studio. One of us starts in the design file, one of us starts in the terminal, and by the end of a project it is rarely obvious which is which.
We take on a small number of things at a time — websites, product interfaces, the design system underneath both — and stay on them from the first sketch through to the deploy that puts them in front of people.
A few of the things we have made.

Before this we spent years inside other people’s teams: agencies, an in-house platform group, and a lot of maintenance on sites neither of us wrote.
That is where the taste came from. We have both seen what a design system looks like after three years and four developers, so we build for the version of the site that exists long after we have stopped touching it.
export const studio = { people: 2, stack: [ 'TypeScript', 'Next.js', 'Postgres', ], rules: [ 'design in the browser', 'measure before optimising', 'no dark patterns, ever', ],} as constBetween projects there is usually a half-finished thing on one of our machines: a synth that runs in a browser tab, a plotter drawing maps of walks we have taken, a typeface nobody asked for.
The two characters wandering around this page came out of one of those. They have been here longer than most of the writing has.
If you have something you would like built properly, write to us. We read everything and we answer everything, usually within a day.
