A furniture workshop selling direct, built around photography that had to stay enormous and still load fast.

The photography was the product, so none of it could be cropped down to a thumbnail and none of it could block the first paint. We shipped a build step that derives every size from one master, and a gallery that only ever holds three decoded images in memory.
